Competitors follow the same route starting at the control gates but then turn around at Luxmore Hut and head back down to the start/finish line.
The Luxmore Grunt is held on the same race day as the Kepler Challenge but is much shorter being only 27 km in distance.
Entry fees must be paid before starting the race, the fees are as set below: Open and Masters (over 18) Under 18 years Enter online via the Canoe Racing NZ website.
Entries will be taken on the day at registration, please complete and bring along the entry form that can be found on the CRNZ website. There will be a race briefing at 8.45am and additionally just prior to each race.
Around 450 runners enter the event with nearly all completing the demanding course.
Starting at the Control Gates of Lake Te Anau the route follows an easy first 6 km before it takes a steady climb to the Luxmore Hut.
First on the local scene is the Hikoikoi Waka Ama Clubs Matariki Event on Saturday.
